About The Teacher

I decided to become a teacher while attending elementary school in Little
Rock, Arkansas. While earning my elementary and early childhood degree
from
Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, my passion for
teaching was reaffirmed.
My teaching career began in 1975 in East Baton Rouge Parish at Bakerfield
Elementary. In 1978 I "nested" in the eagles nest at Eden Gardens
teaching
kindergarten. This will be my 44th year teaching Kindergarten.
My heart is filled with very special memories and moments after this many
years. I have also been married to my husband, Bobby, who is an attorney
at
Wilkinson, Carmody, and Gilliam for 44 years. We have a 38 year old
son who graduated from Centenary while playing college baseball. He is now
the Baseball coach at Bossier Parish Community College.
In addition to my love for teaching and baseball, I enjoy scrap booking,
collecting duck items for the children and Christmas shopping all year
long!
Keeping in touch with friends is important to me so I do a lot of
emailing and facebook!
My favorite TV channel is HGTV. I also love Lifetime movies!
Photography
has always been an interst to me so I recently took a
photography class at BPCC and was able to use the techniques I learned
when
taking pictures of the children. I use these snapshots to make a memory
book for each child for their end of the year gift. I am always looking
for a
tech savvy mom to take over this project!
I am a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and belong to a ladies sunday
school class where I serve as the treasurer. I also serve on the pre
school
committee at my church.
I look forward to getting to know each child and parent as we make this
a
wonderful school year. I realize each child is unique and by nurturing
each
child at his/her individual stage of development, this year will be a
memory
to be cherished!

Mission For The Class

School should be a place where children want to be because it is
exciting, challenging and fun! I value children's curiosity and encourage
their questions. Our kindergarten program provides children with
opportunities to experience success and develop self confidence in an
academic setting.
